Experts estimate that 45% of youth leaving foster care become homeless within a year.

The Independent Living Program (ILP) is a federally funded program to assist current and former foster children achieve self-sufficiency, enabling a smoother transition as they age out of the system. These kids may or may not have been in any of our other programs, yet can benefit from the same advocacy and training we offer.

Services available to help youth age 16 – 21 to prepare for adulthood include:
• Independent life skill classes
• Daily living skills
• Education resources
• Assistance with applications for student aid
• Help in getting a job
• Housing resources
• Money management
• Decision making
• Building self-esteem
• Support and advocacy
